Nigel Mansell

With a love of Formula 1, and a desire to use that passion to raise money for charity, Susie decided to paint a large portrait of Nigel Mansell. She already knew of his local charity, Dream-A-Way, so set about creating the portrait and contacted the organisation to offer it as a donation to support their fundraising.

Susie was invited to Woodbury Park, Nigel Mansell’s golf course, for a charity event. There, she met representatives from the charity as well as Nigel himself, who loved the painting so much that he decided to keep it for his World of Racing exhibition. She kept in touch with the founders of the charity and later completed a second portrait, which Nigel again chose to keep within his exhibition.

Nigel later contacted Susie and asked her to create a painting of his formula 1 car. She created the painting ‘Red 5, GP Masters Series, Back to Winning Ways’.

The portrait paintings are captured on canvas with the use of acrylic paints. Through the use of large, bold blocks of colour, the portraits come together, creating a bold image of Nigel Mansell during different times and with different teams during his racing days.
